Chana Dal Recipe | Vegan Dal Instant Pot

Chana Dal Recipe | Vegan Dal Instant Pot

Chana Dal or Bengal gram is the name of the lentil on this North Indian Chana dal Recipe. A healthy and delicious everyday dish perfect served with roti or steamed basmati rice. Slightly heavier than the simple yellow dal recipe where I use different types of lentils. For this chana dal recipe, it is very important to soak the chana dal for at least 1 hour. This will ensure that the dal is soft when cooked. Some people temper this dal, I prefer to keep it healthier because it is already a very tasty dish.

These everyday dal recipes are a staple in every vegetarian Indian household, for their nutritional value. High in protein and low in fat, dal is usually served as a side dish with roti or rice, a vegetable dish and a pickle. Depending on your taste you can top with a squeeze of lemon juice and raw chopped onions.

Dals and curries are always my favourite dishes, delicious, comforting and nutritious. Indian food made my transition to a vegetarian diet simple and easy. If you follow a vegan or vegetarian diet and want to try Indian food, this is a simple dish not heavily spiced and guaranteed to be your next favourite winter warmer.
