Middle Eastern Baharat Spice Blend Recipe

A gorgeous and delicious Baharat spice blend recipe that is versatile and super easy to make. This blend originated in the Middle East is Aromatic and Peppery and can be used in Soups, Tomato Sauces, or with Lentils, Rice Pilafs and Couscous.

Baharat spice blend recipe:


  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 3 green cardamom pods (seeds only)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp dried mint
  • 1 tsp grated nutmeg


Grind all except together except the powders, mix everything.

Baharat Variations:

Lebanese Baharat Spice Blend

add fenugreek to the above mix

Persian Baharat Spice Blend

add dried lime & saffron to the above mix

Tunisian Baharat Spice Blend

add dried rose petals to the above mix
